Embrace the challenge! The way to Machu Picchu is Embrace the challenge! The way to Machu Picchu is easy. Take a train to Aguas Calientes and from there a bus to the entrance of this magical place.

But... We walked all the way up. First we walked along the railway tracks and spent a night in Aguas Calientes. Next morning we also walked up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. So I was tired here when this photo was taken. And happy at the same time. Loved walking up. Still I wouldn’t do it again. Because that train ride is amazing too! And the bus is quite comfortable. 😊

What would you do?

Iceland is home to more than half of the world’s Iceland is home to more than half of the world’s puffin population.

We were lucky to see some while touring this land of ice and fire! And no boat trip was needed, because they were right there on the coast near Borgarfjördur Eystri. Such funny and interesting birds they are. Did you know that puffins live up to 20 years and the oldest known puffin lived to be 36!

Safe to say that we all couldn’t get enough of watching them. But the wind, oh that Icelandic wind. Drove us away straight to the nearest cafe.

And also always ready to explore beautiful new beaches. Because who doesn’t like a giant sandbox? It’s funny how the kids enjoy all beaches, no matter how white the sand is and no matter how picturesque the palm trees are. They just enjoy! Probably it’s best to bring that joy within and then any beach or any place will be perfect.

This is Bagan in Myanmar, 2008. Back then Myanmar This is Bagan in Myanmar, 2008. Back then Myanmar was still under the rule of the military junta.

That didn’t matter much to me. I fell in love with this country and it’s people in an instant. But it mattered to the people of Myanmar, who were longing for freedom and democracy. Three years after my first visit Myanmar was free of the military rule. And this year, when it seems like things can’t go more wrong... Well. Back to the military rule they go. My heart is with this beautiful country and it’s people.

Just look at this beauty. Bagan has thousands of temples that are about 1000 years old. What an achievement of the civilizations that lived here. Let’s cherish this and hope that Myanmar can get that freedom back.

When words are not needed much.

But still, isn’t this beautiful? I always prefer warm places, but there’s something about snow and ice that I just love. This serenity and peacefulness when nothing distracts you and you can just stay with your thoughts. Maybe not for too long, because it gets cold.

Today, lemurs are found only on Madagascar and at the Comoro islands (northwest of Madagascar). Photographed here is a ring tailed lemur or lemur catta. This is probably the most well known lemur species. You might have seen them in the movie Madagascar too!
