Santorini, a famous place, worth all the hype. Sta Santorini, a famous place, worth all the hype. Staying on top of the caldera is of course a must and Imerovigli is the best of all the villages there. Imagine this view every day right from your room. Nothing quite compares to this! I’m not sure when we’ll go back, because probably soon Santorini will be crowded again and that makes it loose a little bit of its charm. But it’s easy to understand, why so many want to come. These views 😍

Baule Goli mask performance. Kplekple masks are th Baule Goli mask performance. Kplekple masks are the ones that start everything. A tradition still alive here in Côte d’Ivoire in the area of Baule people. The masks appear when they are needed. In times of danger or when there’s a funeral, sickness. They chase away everything bad. They are intercessors with supernatural forces.

Only men can wear the masks and only men can play the music that accompanies the performance. Women can dance by the side. Children are usually afraid of the masks. So funny to watch them react.

My favorite part was how the whole village gathered when the performance started. They enjoy this so much. And so did I. Now is the time to visit these places. The traditions are still alive and not yet a part of the folklore. That is what makes Côte d’Ivoire so special.

A little break from all the vibrancy of Africa. It A little break from all the vibrancy of Africa. It was so easy to fall in love with Venezuela. These magical surroundings are just so captivating and make you feel like you’re in another world.

The tepuis, table top mountains, dominate the beautiful lands of Canaima National Park. The word tepui means “house of the gods” in the native tongue of Pemon people, who inhabit this area. And that name is so very much suitable. Who else could live here. Tepuis are isolated entities and they host unique, endemic plant and animal species. So there’s a whole new world up there.

Even though our journey to and from Angel falls was long, I kinda wanted it to last longer. What’s not to love here. I couldn’t get enough of these landscapes that carried me away to the beautiful world of daydreaming. See you soon, Venezuela.

Côte d’Ivoire, probably not a very common trave Côte d’Ivoire, probably not a very common travel destination, but oh so fascinating. This country is all about the people, their lives, culture and traditions. It’s where you can experience animism up close, extremely authentic and makes you feel like you’re in a documentary.

I believe we all search for authentic places, experiences. And in Côte d’Ivoire it’s just like that. This country doesn’t receive many foreign visitors and isn’t maybe the easiest when it comes to traveling around. But it has so much to offer. All these ethnic groups are keeping their traditions alive and it’s not a folklore, but it’s their lives.

Witnessing the mask dances, initiation dances, all the animism rituals, learning about fetishes and the priests. It makes your head spinning. Wow, what a culture! I just hope and wish things don’t change too much here. But just in case, go visit this amazing country the soonest!

The mask is worn with an ample costume of woven green palm fronds that emphasizes the association with wild nature. There is no possible way that this costume could be preserved, Baule men always make them just before they are used, and this seems to be part of the meaning of the performance.

During the performance, this mask is one of a pair of identical masks that emerge from the forest together, where bush spirits abide, to enter the village.
